Serving Pizzas Since 1972

The origins of the Pizza Bar trace back to 1972, when the Allison family started serving pizza from a bar top with 5 barstools inside Carlos’ pool hall in Carbon Hill. They added the now famous ham sandwich to the menu early on and soon customers were lining up around the block for some of the best food in town. The food, however, was only part of the plan for the Allisons. They wanted to create a destination where all customers were treated equally and respectfully. The phrase “come as you are” embodies the spirit of the Allison’s intention. They wanted a place where lawyers and bricklayers would sit side-by-side enjoying a sense of community.

When current owner Jayson Merchant first walked into the Pizza Bar in 2000, he knew it was a life-changing moment. Jayson had dreamed of owning a restaurant since he was a young boy and the moment he walked in the door, he knew the Pizza Bar was the place he was always meant to own. Jayson met Lacy Allison when his wife, Catie, began working nights at the Pizza Bar. Over the next several years, Jayson, Catie and Lacy forged a close relationship, and in 2014, Lacy entrusted them to carry the Pizza Bar legacy forward. Lacy taught them how to make all the fan favorites, and more importantly, how to preserve the legacy he created serving the community for the past 50 years. For Jayson and Catie, the Pizza Bar is so much more than a business, it is their passion and purpose and they proudly continue the traditions and legacy that the Allison family began.

WHAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT

My friend was shocked when I told him I had never even heard of The Pizza Bar. He told me how famous the Hot Ham n' Cheese sandwich is. I, probably like most others, simply thought he was overselling a sandwich. He wasn't. The Pizza Bar's Hot Ham n' Cheese sandwich is honestly on another level. It's delicious.
 
We also ordered a pizza. I'm not a fan of thin crust pizza, but it was probably the best thin crust pizza I've ever had in my entire life.
 
Any time I'm in Carbon Hill, I'm looking forward to eating at The Pizza Bar.

5 stars. Not good enough should be 10. Always had good experience. Good food friendly people . Always smiling to see their customers walk in the door. I live I Guin Alabama and it's a pretty good drive for me but always love going up there to eat. Food is always great. I look forward to going to jasper anywhere in walker county because if I have a little extra money I slide in. The door for hot ham and cheese or bbq. But it's all good so no favorites for me . It's always hard to chose what I want to eat. Keep up the good work guys

Brian took me there few months ago. Been hunting in the area for 5 season never even knew about this place. The Philly Steak sandwiches with mushrooms and gravy was unreal! Everything pizza was the best I’ve had anywhere in America too. One of a kind!!!
